Port in the list of the best wines in the world
The Port Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional 1963 has just been considered one of the best wines in the world, according to the site Wine-Searcher.
Wine-Searcher went to its database of 1.5 million scores from more than 30 critics in search for the wines that were most consensual amongst the critics. And it discovered that only 7 have an aggregate of 99 or 100 points. These are the ones that made it to the list of the greatest wines in the world.
Robert Parker, for example, gave a 99/100 to Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional 1963; Jamie Goode 97/100 and Jancis Robinson 20/20. Impressive scores that come with a price.
At Garrafeira Nacional website, Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional 1963 costs more than 5.000 euros.
Quinta da Noval produces Port wine since 1715. Since 1994, they have decided to only declare Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional in truly excepcional years. They only produce tiny quantities, around 200 to 250 cases for each year of declaration, the equivalent of 10% of the production in Vintage declaration years.
