Lisbon Airport Transfers

Lisbon Airport Transfers: a map to show you the distance

The Lisbon airport transfers are always a worry for the travelers and we receive plenty of questions about the best way to get to the Lisbon center. There are plenty of options.

From the Lisbon airport to the Lisbon center is should not take you more than 15 minutes – with normal conditions, no traffic and by private car, not bus. It is not that far.

Lisbon Airport Transfers
By private transfer

The private transfer will assure you that you have a car and a driver waiting for you, no matter what time do you arrive – even if there are delays in your flight. There are several companies in Lisbon offering this service and we can also help you with this.

Good

  • More reliable
  • More comfort
  • Easier for you
  • Quick

Bad

  • More expensive

By taxi

At the Lisbon airport, there are several taxis that can take you to the Lisbon center. Please have in mind that, from the Lisbon airport to the Lisbon center (Rossio), it should not cost more than 15 euros – in normal conditions, no traffic. All the taxis are equipped with a taximeter and it has to start working when the car starts working. Unfortunately, there are some cases of drivers that charge more than it is legal. The Portuguese police has been trying to control the situation. If they charge you more than 15 euros for no apparent reason, ask for a receipt. You will have all the details of the company in that document and, if there are reasons for it, you can complain.

Good

  • Quick
  • Normally is less expensive than the private transfers
  • Comfort

Bad

  • More expensive than the metro or bus
  • There are some cases of tourists having to pay more than they should

By metro

The lines of the metro system in Lisbon

The red line and the new Airport station will be a big help to get you to the Lisbon center (Baixa/Chiado). You will have to buy your tickets and change line, but the metro system is not that complicated in Lisbon.

Good

  • Less expensive
  • No traffic

Bad

  • Waiting time
  • You will have to buy the ticket and understand the lines
  • You will have to change line to get to Baixa/Chiado

By bus

You have several buses that pass by the Lisbon Airport. One of the them, the AeroBus, will take you directly to the Lisbon center.

Good

  • You can take your luggage
  • No crowds

Bad

  • Waiting time
  • More expensive than the normal buses

You also have the normal buses, that locals use. I would recommend the 708.

Good

  • Less expensive than the Aerobus

Bad

  • They don’t accept luggage
  • Several stops
  • Waiting time
  • They can have crowds inside
