A special visit to Sintra

Sintra is one of our favorite places in the world. This week we went on a guided visit to the Pena Palace lead by its director, António Nunes Pereira. Very cold morning, foggy, a bit of rain. We loved it!

These visits are always a great opportunity to ask questions about less known facts, learn about the secrets, see things that aren’t normally accessible to the public and basically become better guides.

A special visit to the Pena Palace

I truly believe that what makes Your Friend in Lisbon different is our hunger for knowledge and our passion for Portugal. We love to learn. We love to discover the stories that aren’t normally part of history books. To find the funny stories, the curiosities, the little details that make history come alive.

All our guides have anual training sessions. This is the second that we have this year. Because every year there is more knowledge available. Just to give you an idea, at the Pena Palace, they are finding new answers to old mysteries and we got to share that with the director of the monument.

After more than 3 hours of visit, time for lunch. We are foodies, you know that. For us, food can be a monument. This one was definitely that. An epic meal with an amazing view over the ocean. And again an opportunity to learn more about the region and about the local food.

As always, our promise for 2015 is that we will keep investigating and getting better at what we do.
